Barny was born on January 8th 2015. He was supposed to only live for 14 days. This is the minimum age calves have to reach in order for their transportation to be legal. Luckily, an animal lover rescued him from being slaughtered. The reason he wasn’t granted a longer life was that he was small for his age and thus not profitable” enough for meat production. We convinced the farmer to give him away for free. Because we wanted him to grow up with other young calves, we sent him first to the cattle kindergarten from the White Paw Organisation e.V. When he was old enough, we took him over on October 2016 and he moved to Stoppels Offener Lebenshof, one of our animal sanctuaries, where he has found many friends and can enjoy his whole life.
